Previously known as Philo Records, Aladdin Records was formed in 1945 by Eddie and Leo Mesner. The label’s first album was by Lester Young. The entire Aladdin catalog was sold to Imperial Records in 1962. Today the catalog is owned by Universal Music Group. Notable artists: Lester Young, Billie Holiday, Coleman Hawkins, Gene Ammons, and many more.
