Formed in the 1950s by Gustav Wildi, Bethlehem Records first began as a pop music label, later turning its focus to jazz. It was known for giving considerable creative control to the artist and was among the first record labels to pay attention to album art. Notable artists: Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Howard McGhee, Booker Ervin, Nina Simone, and more.
