Inner City Records was founded in 1976 by Irv Kratka in New York City. Starting with re-issues, the label moved to original recordings, releasing 60 albums between 1976 and 1980. Notable artists: Archie Shepp, Clifford Brown, Nat Adderly, Chet Baker, Paul Bley, David Friesen, Dexter Gordon, and more.
