Description

Black and Blue Records was founded in France in 1968 by Jean-Marie Monestier and Jean-Pierre Tahmazian, and later joined by Jean-Pierre Vignola and Didier Tricard. Black and Blue initially issued material from concerts by defunct labels, including concerts by Big Bill Broonzy and Memphis Slim. From 1967, European tours for visiting African American jazz and blues artists were arranged and the concerts recorded, building one of the most important catalogs of blues and swing in the world. Notable artists: Gatemouth Brown, Jimmy Dawkins, Luther Johnson, Louis Jordan, Sammy Price, Jimmy Rogers, Willie Mabon, and more.
